Tests

Electrocardiogram (ECG)

It is a simple test which can be used to check the patient’s heart rhythm and electrical activity. Stickers, which are attached to the skin, are used to detect the electrical signals produced by the heart each time it beats. These signals are recorded by a machine and are looked at by a doctor to see if they are abnormal.

Echocardiogram

It is a test which uses sound waves (ultrasound) to create a picture of the heart. A Doppler test uses sound waves to measure the speed and direction of blood flow. By combining these tests, useful information about the cardiac anatomy and function are provided.

Echocardiography is used in patients to diagnose or rule out heart disease and also to follow patients who have already been diagnosed with a heart problem.

The patient will need to wear it around hid/her waist or carry it in his/her pocket.

The patient does not need to stay in hospital and he/she can continue with his/her normal daily activities during the test.
